Pioneer Network Pre-conference Intensive - "A Call to Action for State Culture Change Coalitions"

As part of Pioneer Network's 2008 National Conference, a pre-conference intensive allowed coalition leaders from around the country to share states' culture change initiatives and actions to promote innovative models of skilled nursing environments that "create home" with the people that live there. Throughout the day, participants and speakers shared ideas and experiences on the next steps for the transformation of elder care in individual states and nationally.  One primary objective of the intensive was to explain priority findings and action items from the CMS/Pioneer Network Symposium on Culture Change and the Environment Requirements and to identify steps participants' culture change coalitions could take to promote innovations in building design and use of space in skilled nursing environments in their respective states.  Speakers included:

Nora Gibson, Chair, Coalitions Committee, Pioneer Network
Cathy Lieblich, Coalitions Coordinator, Pioneer Network
Karen Schoeneman, MPA, Senior Policy Analyst and Project Officer, CMS Division of Nursing Homes
Carmen Bowman, Culture Change Consultant, Edu-Catering: Catering Education for Compliance and Culture Change
